A local sports club’s been left “disappointed” after discovering what’s been called “offensive” graffeti on its grounds before it welcomes 80 children on site.
The finding by Parkville AFC in Tullow came last evening as members prepared to stage an FAI Summer Soccer School from 10am this morning.
They say eight teenagers were on the grounds at the time, some fleeing when asked to help with the cleanup.
Cian Madden is PRO with the club and has told KCLR News; “Our groundsman just arrived at the club there last night to make sure everything was in order for this morning, when he arrived up he just found some very offensive graffeti and there was people, teenagers on the grounds and they were building camps and breaking trees and things like that so there was a big clean up operation required last night to get everything ready for this morning, we wanted to try get the best perception of our club for everyone dropping off their kids this morning”.
He adds “It’s just very disappointing, I don’t know, it’s not good kids coming out doing such mindless vandalism, we’ve had pitches set on fire, we’ve had fences broke down, we’ve had walls knocked down, glasses on the pitch it’s just very frustrating because obviously we’re a small club”.
He’s since been on The KCLR Daily to further discuss the incident – hear that here;
