Eight Irish food companies were honoured at Bord BiaÕs Food and Drink Awards in the Mansion House, Dublin tonight. The Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine attended the event, which attracted over 300 representatives from the Irish food and drink industry. The awards are designed to reward excellence within the Irish food and drink industry across eight categories Ð Exporting, Branding, Entrepreneurial, Digital Marketing, Success at Home, Sustainability, Consumer Insight and Innovation. Pictured are Michael Carey, Chairman, Bord Bia (left) and Simon Coveney TD, Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (right) with Tim Ryan and Eoin Doyle from GlanbiaÕs Avonmore Supermilk, IrelandÕs leading milk brand, which was named the Branding Award winner as it outperformed overall milk sales by as much as 6.3% in volume terms and consumer brand awareness and loyalty increased across the board. The growth strategy revolved around a campaign, called ÒPlayground of LifeÓ, based on insight that consumers are increasingly concerned about the lack of vitamin D in the diet and posing Super Milk as the solution.
