Carlow manager Ed Burke has confirmed he will remain in charge for the 2027 season.
The Tipperary native guided the Dolmen County to National League and Leinster success this year, as well as a historic first-ever appearance in Croke Park.
Carlow came agonisingly close to completing the season with All-Ireland glory on Sunday, losing to Antrim by just a single point in the TG4 All-Ireland Junior Final.
Despite the disappointment, Burke believes Carlow are capable of competing at a higher level and says he will be back next year to try and achieve promotion and go one step further.
Speaking after Sunday’s final, he said:
“We are disappointed we don’t get to play intermediate football. I think we are a step above Junior, and to be fair so is Antrim.
“Yeah, we got to play in Croke Park, we didn’t get to lift the trophy, we just have to go again.
“I said to them inside, I’ll be here as long as everybody else is here.”
Burke’s confirmation provides a major boost for Carlow as they look to build on what has already been a landmark season and return to Croke Park with their sights set on All-Ireland success in 2027.
