Evergreen have reached the quarter-finals of the FAI Junior Cup after another impressive run through the competition.
Gary Maher’s side booked their place in the last eight with a 1-0 victory over Colga in Galway, with Ben Hickey scoring the decisive goal.
It continues an impressive FAI Junior Cup campaign for Evergreen. Earlier in the competition, Ify Nzewi scored the only goal as they defeated Donegal’s Kildrum Tigers 1-0, while they had already overcome Kildare Town 4-1.
Evergreen now face another away trip in the quarter-finals, with Pike Rovers of Limerick standing between them and a place in the semi-finals.
That game is set to take place on August 16th, with the semi-finals scheduled for early September.
The remarkable thing about Evergreen’s run is that the season simply hasn’t stopped for Maher’s players. They’ve been competing throughout the year across the league, Kilkenny Cup competitions, Leinster competition and now the FAI Junior Cup.
Evergreen have reached the final on two occasions but have never lifted the prestigious FAI Junior Cup.
They’ll now be hoping this is the year they can go one step further.
