Fianna Fáil has announced more contenders for the Local Elections.
Eamon Aylward’s already confirmed he’ll not be seeking re-election.
Having already selected sitting councillor Ger Frisby for the Piltown local electoral area, two newcomers have now also been added to the ticket there.
20-year-old farmer Maria Wall from Mooncoin is the party’s youngest candidate across the country. A holder of a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Science from UCD, she’s told KCLR News that her aims is to advocate for rural farming communities and to champion initiatives for affordable housing, improved transport, and better access to mental health support.
She adds “As a young person, I frequently notice that the concerns of my generation are often overlooked. That’s why I’m stepping up, I believe that it’s time that Kilkenny County Council has fresh perspective. I want to focus on improving the lives of people in south Kilkenny by working on initiatives that tackle our cost of living crisis and making essential services more accessible for all.”
Jenny Catt too is also set to run.
