Ballyhale Shamrocks and O’Loughlin Gaels served up a remarkable high-scoring encounter in Thomastown, with 11 goals scored across the 60 minutes.
Shamrocks eventually came out on top by 6-22 to 5-15, with Ballyhale’s Niall Shortall hitting five goals and O’Loughlin Gaels’ Ruarc Sweeney continuing his incredible run of form with four goals.
Shortall’s five-goal haul was particularly remarkable, and speaking on the KCLR Hurling Podcast, he explained how the breaks simply fell his way on the day.
“It feels nice when the ball breaks your way. I think all my goals came from breaking ball. It’s the luck of the draw what way it goes, some days they fall for you and some days they don’t. Thankfully they fell my way today.”
It was another hugely entertaining weekend of Kilkenny club hurling, with plenty of talking points across the senior league.
