Gardaí are reiterating their appeal for witnesses to an incident which saw a Carlow business held-up by a man with a gun.
It happened at Boyle Sports at the Tullow Road shopping centre on Sunday, just before 11am.
Nobody was injured in the incident, but understandably people were shocked by it.
A spokesperson for the company has told KCLR News that the safety of their customers and staff is their top priority and they’re taking all necessary measures to ensure their wellbeing. They’re also co-operating with Gardaí on the investigation.
Full statement;
“Thank you for reaching out. We can confirm that an incident involving a robbery took place at our Carlow shop. We are fully cooperating with the Gardaí as they conduct their investigation. The safety of our customers and staff is our top priority, and we are taking all necessary measures to ensure their well-being. We cannot provide further details as the investigation is ongoing. Thank you for your understanding.”
Garda Niamh Doran says the hunt for the man responsible continues, telling KCLR News; “An offensive weapon was produced to the staff, which isn’t nice and demands were made for money to be handed over, the staff complied with the request and the suspect fled the scene”.
She adds “This occurred at approximately 10 to 11 in the morning so there might have been people out walking and bits and bobs so you might have seen somebody running, unusually dressed caught your eye to give us a line of enquiry to search CCTV or anything, if you can give Carlow a ring on 059 9136620”.
