It looks like we’re in for a weekend of further wet weather in Carlow and Kilkenny.
Status Orange warnings continue for Wicklow and Dublin to 3 o’clock this afternoon, Louth’s pushing out to 6pm with Waterford’s set to end at 9am alongside the Yellow notice for our two counties.
But local authorities had earlier in the week issued advisories for flooding which run to midnight Sunday.
Met Éireann’s Matthew Martin says “We’re expecting further heavy rainfall and continued chance of flooding”.
Advice to motorists is to continue to take extra care on all routes and to ensure you’ve extra time for journeys.
While those set to travel on public transport are advised to check before leaving home – Irish Rail’s Dublin to Rosslare line is closed between Greystones and Kilcoole due to debris on the line and also between Enniscorthy and Wexford because of flooding.
The DART is operating between Greystones and Howth, with delays through Seapoint but DART and Northern Commuter services are suspended between Malahide and Howth Junction because of a mechanical fault on a maintenance vehicle.
Meanwhile, the deadline to apply for the government’s Emergency Response Payment has been extended until Wednesday, 18th February with Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary saying his department is keen support anyone affected by flooding.
