A Status Yellow rain warning takes effect locally from midday.
The Met Éireann notice runs until 3am tomorrow (Friday) morning in Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Waterford and now also Cork.
Spells of heavy rain are due with the possibility of thunderstorms.
You may come across localised flooding so care is needed on all routes, especially with more schools returning today leading to extra traffic and additional people walking and cycling.
Meanwhile, listeners in some spots across both counties are reporting fog too.

In Callan, Bridge Street is again seeing some surface water but it appears recent works have kept it from flooding into businesses and homes along the stretch
