Nowlan park is getting ready to welcome a visit from the skies with a helicopter set to land at the county grounds later this morning.
The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service is being introduced to locals today – it’s a new air support service for the South of Ireland, and is staffed by a team of trained trauma doctors.
The unit was designed to attend the scene of an incident in the fastest time possible, to provide life-saving treatment.
It’s set to touch down at Nowlan Park shortly after eleven o’ clock this morning and will make a second landing in Inistioge later at half past twelve.
The service will be run by the Irish Community Air Ambulance and its hoped it can operate out of Cork Airport to serve counties in Munster and South Leinster.
