Cois Nore is providing vital community-based support for people with cancer, including therapy, reflexology, exercise and other wellbeing services.
Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill says more cancer treatment could also be delivered closer to home, where clinically appropriate.
She says around 30 percent of chemotherapy treatments could potentially be provided outside specialist hospitals, reducing travel for some patients.
It comes as she officially opened the state of the art €2million facility on the Waterford Road this afternoon. Thirteen years after it was first suggested the building that can now triple it’s service users.
