The high temperature weather warning’s been extended for Carlow and Kilkenny.
Due to end at 6am in the morning, it’s now been pushed out to 8o’clock tomorrow night for both counties as well as Laois, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary, Cork, Limerick and Offaly.
It’s as a six-week hosepipe ban is now in force in Dublin, south Tipperary, parts of Kildare, Meath, Wexford and Wicklow.
It’s set to remain in place until August 26th and it’s warned could be extended to include Carlow and Kilkenny.
Uisce Eireann is urging people to reduce their non-essential water use to protect supplies for homes, hospitals, and vulnerable customers.
With temps set to reach the high 20s again there’s an increased risk of wildfires – already blazes have been battled in county Wicklow, including overnight.
The National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management is asking retailers to temporarily suspend the sale of disposable barbeques, because of the fire risk they pose when used in certain outdoor settings amid the current conditions.
