St Lachtain’s secured a commanding 3-15 to 0-13 win over Easkey of Sligo in yesterday’s AIB All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Semi-Final, earning their place in the final at Croke Park on Sunday, January 12th, where they will face Russell Rovers of Cork.
Despite being without key players James Maher and Brian Kennedy, St Lachtain’s showed depth and determination to see off their Connacht opponents. Manager Steven Farrell was full of praise for his team after the game, crediting their squad mentality and the contributions of all players, including those who stepped in during the absence of senior figures.
“I trust every single one of them. When we’re down bodies, the next man steps up,” Farrell said. He highlighted the performance of the substitutes who came on during the game, stating, “The lads that came on, the five lads, were brilliant. And we could have put on another five lads. Just today, those five lads came on—it was their chance to shine. And they done excellent.”
Farrell expressed immense pride in his squad, emphasizing the collective effort that has driven their success. “It’s every single one of them in that dressing room—the whole 40 of them and management. I couldn’t be as proud as I am right now.”
Freshford will now turn their attention to preparing for the final against Russell Rovers, as they aim to cap off an exceptional season with the ultimate prize.
