Irish Water needs a new protocol for dealing with problems along the Laois Carlow border.
A Carlow Councillor is criticising the utility’s response to an outage in Graiguecullen last Friday.
The County Council carry out all the repair work for Irish Water but John Cassin says there needs to be a quicker system put in place to decide which local authority has responsibility in each instance.
Councillor Cassin says this isn’t an isolated incident:
“It should have been very, very easy to track it down. I mean, they have all the information that they need. I had rang them, and the county council had rang them back to say it was actually the Laois side.
“They should have been able to deal with it quickly but it took them a disappointingly long time to figure out where exactly the problem was.”
