Pat Bennett says his long-held respect for Carlow and the character of their players were central to his decision to take on the role of Carlow senior hurling manager.
Bennett pointed to his experiences coming up against Carlow with previous teams as shaping his view of the county’s hurlers.
“I’ve come up against them, being with Kerry for a few years and then with Antrim. I’ve come up against Carlow and always respected them,” Bennett said.
He highlighted the work ethic and togetherness within the squad as standout qualities.
“They’re a really good team. Their work rate is unbelievable, they’ve got some serious hurlers, and to me they’re just like a team that were together,” he said. “They were a team that wanted to play and wanted to be better.”
Bennett added that this attitude was a major factor in accepting the role, as he believes it provides a strong platform to build from as Carlow look ahead under his management.
