KCLR Sport will have live coverage of three major games this weekend, including the Electric Ireland Fitzgibbon Cup Final as DCU take on UL at the Connacht Centre of Excellence tomorrow at 2:45 PM.
Up to 12 Kilkenny players and two from Carlow are expected to feature in the DCU squad, while Emeralds’ Killian Doyle is likely to start for UL. Commentary will begin at 2 PM, bringing full coverage of this highly anticipated clash.
Former Kilkenny defender Kieran Joyce, who lifted the Fitzgibbon Cup with UL in 2011, shared his thoughts on the matchup, suggesting UL’s experience could give them the edge:
“From an experience point of view, and why I think UL will probably shade it, they have lads that have All-Irelands under their belt. There’s a lot of hurt from UL after losing last year, they’ll be coming again.”
However, Joyce also highlighted the significance of a DCU victory, particularly for the future of Kilkenny hurling:
“From DCU’s point of view, it’s the first time in a while at the day, and I wouldn’t mind seeing DCU win. I think it’d be fantastic, especially from a Kilkenny point of view, with all those players coming through with a Fitzgibbon under their belt.”
Stay tuned to KCLR for live commentary and full match analysis.
