If you’re interested in taking part in recording the names of fields and local areas for future generations, there’s an event in Kilkenny tonight.
The Kilkenny Field names recording project is hosting a workshop from 7.30pm in the Springhill Court Hotel to show locals how to take part.
Since 2010, over 8,000 field names have been recorded in 273 townlands around the county.
They’re being archived by Geographic Information Systems and are made available online thereafter.
