Kilkenny hurling fans were left disappointed after the senior side’s Walsh Cup game was called off just before its scheduled throw-in.
Due to the weather the start time had been shifted with a venue change too, however the outcome of the impending clash of the ash ended up relying on a coin toss which saw Westmeath win and advance.
The decision to abandon the match was reportedly made by Kilkenny GAA as outlined by their hosting counterparts who issued the following statement on their social media last night;
KCLR News has contacted Kilkenny GAA County Board and is awaiting comment.
Meanwhile, local county manager Derek Lyng’s told KCLR Sport he’s disappointed for the players who didn’t get to play.
