Kilkenny are through to the Leinster Under-20 Hurling Championship final after a 1-22 to 2-13 semi-final win over Dublin last night.
The Cats will now face Galway in next Wednesday night’s decider after Galway edged past Wexford in extra time in the other semi-final.
That final will be live on KCLR.
However, it’s not all positive news for Kilkenny, with reports in the Irish Independent stating that senior hurler Jordan Molloy will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL injury.
Speaking during KCLR’s live coverage of the under-20 semi-final, analyst Michael Walsh said the injury is a huge setback both for the player and manager Derek Lyng.
“With these injuries, I feel so sorry for the players involved, with all the effort they put in.
“I know it is part of sport, but to end up with an injury like that is just cruel on the player.
“Best wishes to him and hopefully he will make a full recovery.
“He played that link-up role between the half-backs and midfield excellently. In that scenario, it’s a big loss to the squad.”
You can hear more reaction from Walsh, along with Kilkenny under-20 manager Henry Shefflin, now on the KCLR Hurling Podcast.
