The future of Ireland’s last Home Rule Club appears to be in jeopardy.
A heated AGM of the Kilkenny City club took place last night with members bitterly divided over whether or not the building should be sold to pay off a revenue bill of upwards of €30,000.
The club was established in 1894 and since then members have gone to take part in dancing, party nights, musical nights and other recreational activities.
Vice-Chairman of the Club, Seán Kerwick is against the sale of the historic building.
Speaking to KCLR, he says that he believes moving the club to somewhere else would be the death of it.
