“Lack of scores when in control cost us overall, not the late goals” – Pat Hoban

Kilkennys Minor Hurlers suffered heartbreak in their re-match with Galway yesterday in Croke Park with a last gasp and controversial goal giving the tribesmen a two point win, 3-10 to 0-17.

The game had all the echos of last weeks encounter when Kilkenny pulled away with a 16 points to 1-9 lead with 5 minutes left but Galway were resilient and Jack Kenny and Cian Salmon hit the back of the net to see off the cats.

There was a suspicion of a square ball for the last goal but referee Colm Lyons allowed it to stand.

Kilkenny rallied to try and get a last gasp score but Andy Gaffneys effort hit the side netting.

Kilkenny Manager Pat Hoban told KCLR Sport that he thought it was a square ball but the lack of scores throughout the 60 minutes was what cost them……
