Local food producer claims top prize at Irish Cheese Awards

A Carlow food producer has scooped the top prize at this year’s Irish Cheese Awards.
Mount Leinster Clothbound was named the Supreme Champion at the awards ceremony in Cork this week.
The white cheese is produced by Tom Burgess in Tullow, who’s company, Coolattin Cheddar, has been making cheese for 10 years now.
145 cheeses from 29 companise from all over Ireland were judged by a panel of experts.
Mount Leinster Clothbound also picked up a prize for Best Cow’s Milk Cheese.
