New homes in one Kilkenny city area may be moved into within the next month.
So says the Housing Association responsible for the delivery of units on the Nuncio Road.
Earlier this week Cllr Martin Brett outlined the wait of over 18 months faced by those hoping to move in.
The following statement was then issued to KCLR by Respond:
“Respond wishes to address inquiries regarding the delay in our Nuncio Road development project which will provide 50 high quality social homes to those who need them. 28 of these homes have already being delivered as part of the first phase.
As Respond is purchasing these homes from a Developer, we are fully reliant on the Developer to provide all necessary documentation in the correct format in order to be able to close. This step is vital to ensure the project meets all legal and regulatory requirements, safeguarding the interests of our future tenants and ensuring the long-term success of the development.
In February we received the final, corrected legal documentation from the Developer. These documents are currently under review by our legal firm. Subject to all documentation being satisfactorily agreed upon, we anticipate the project to close and be ready for tenanting within the next four weeks.
These timescales are indicative and have been provided to offer transparency around the project’s progress. Respond is working closely with all parties involved to bring this to a close as quickly as possible. Kilkenny County Council have sought regular updates which we have provided. We thank everyone for their ongoing support and understanding as we work to bring this project to fruition.”
