If you can’t collect social welfare payments this week due to the weather, there’s some good news.
Those in receipt of social welfare recipients are being reassured their money will be waiting for them AFTER the snow storm.
Uncollected payments are often returned to the Department but An Post’s Anna McHugh says this time they’ll make an exception.
“If you’re due to collect a social welfare payment of any kind from the post office, and you don’t go out to get it today; or if it’s not entirely necessary, please do not venture out.”
“It will remain safe, secure, ready and waiting for you to collect when this period of bad weather passes.”
Post offices within red alert zones typically close for the duration of the alert. Some local services are open until 1pm Thursday with a further call due on counter services for Friday. Already there has been widespread for collections and deliveries.
Advice regarding Post Office services will be updated in due course with due regard for staff safety and the advice provided by the National Emergency Coordination Group
An Post will keep customers informed through the media over the coming days.
