Almost 60 acres of additional land identified at four different sites in Ferrybank will require rezoning if the area is to meet the revised housing targets detailed in the revised National Planning Framework.
Such rezoning would permit the projected addition of 2133 houses in Ferrybank by 2040, an increase of 660 units on the previously established target.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Ger Frisby welcomed the commitment to provide additional housing in Ferrybank at four sites, including an area to the rear of the Ard Rí Hotel.
He added; “Hopefully all these landbanks that are going to be brought into use will be a huge boost for the area and all the more need, more pressing that the shopping centre gets the go-ahead and that we get it up and running and get a vibrant community built around that to service the people that are coming into the area”.
The date for the judicial review into planning permission awarded for the Ferrybank Shopping Centre development is set for 11 June, 2026.
