Carlow County Council update at 11:30am
Trees down at Myshall, Milford and Borlum Wood have been cleared. There are other trees reported on the N80 at Boggan Hill, Killerig, Slyguff Bagenalstown, Johnstown and Askea Lawns. These have been reported to the roads crews and will be cleared in the coming hours. If there are any reports of trees or dangerous structures, please call the on call emergency weather line @ 0599170302 until 5pm and 0599170300 for any emergencies out of offices hours. As always normal emergencies relating to Fire, Health or An Garda Siochana should call 999 or 112.

Storm Éowyn is set to have quite the impact on Ireland, the entire country under a red wind alert warning in the early hours of Friday.
Extremely dangerous, damaging and disruptive weather conditions are expected on Friday and you’re urged to ‘shelter in place’ for the duration of the red alert.
Advice is to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel and take action to protect yourself and your property.
The Red warning for Carlow and Kilkenny runs from 2am to 10am when it’ll be replaced by an Orange notice until 4pm. Please note timings and storm track can change.
Major electricity outages are expected (updates here) while water supply disruptions will be here.
All primary and secondary schools as well as colleges are closed, here’s the list we have from businesses, service providers and event organisers (please note below may change so check before you travel);
- Aldi has confirmed it will close all of its stores for the duration of the red weather warning

An Post Postal Deliveries and Post Office services for Friday (24th Jan): there will be no postal deliveries or collections for the day, post offices will remain closed during the red warnings but will seek to reopen once safe to do so, subject to local road conditions and power supplies, An Post is planning to run Letter and Parcel deliveries nationwide on Saturday and Post Offices will open as normal from 9am – 1pm, all social welfare benefit payments usually payable at the Post Office on Friday will be available on Saturday and next week, An Post will provide localised customer updates at anpost.com, social media and radio channels during Friday.
