A swimmer with backing from a Kilkenny founded company has managed to achieve his Guinness world record breaking goal.
Mark O’Brien who was on The KCLR Daily last week and was who lives with Motor Neuron Disease set out to take two titles in two countries in a single day.
His first was at Inspire Luton Sports Village in the UK where he shaved two seconds off the previous record of 38.92seconds before boarding a flight for the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin where he completed the 100m Freestyle in one minute, 29.12 seconds, 10 seconds ahead of the last record.
His feat was supported by Campion Insurance – Jim Campion commented “Everyone at Campion Insurance and PIB Group congratulates Mark on what he has achieved. To break two records, in two different countries in one day is inspiring and highlights Mark’s resilience and strength of character.”
Mark’s record-breaking day also aims to raise vital funds for MND research and support services. Donations can be made through his GiveWheel fundraising page here. All funds raised through Mark’s record-breaking efforts will be equally distributed between The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA), The UK Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), and Challenging MND.
