Tesco seeking to partner with developers in a bid to provide a ‘significant residential element’ within their Kilkenny site

A masterplan being prepared will include a supermarket and community space too

There are plans for more Kilkenny city homes.

A spokesperson for Tesco has confirmed to KCLR News that the company’s looking to partner with developers in a bid to provide a ‘significant residential element’ within their site which was once home to the county’s Mart.

On their behalf Cushman & Wakefield, with FitzGerald Auctioneers, are inviting residential developers to submit expressions of interest.

The brownfield site, located less than 1km north of the city centre, nestles between the Castlecomer Road, New Road and Old Mart Street.

Services will be available to the site, and it is zoned for ‘General Business’ under the Kilkenny City and County Development plan, with local amenities situated within close proximity.

In a statement Tesco says “A Masterplan will be prepared by the vendor which will include a supermarket development with community space. Parties are being invited to work in partnership with the vendor in the preparation of a planning application for the entire site, informed by the proposed Masterplan.”
