Two people were arrested with 36 fines issued across Carlow and Kilkenny during the latest Garda operation.
National Slow Down Day ended at 7 o’clock this morning with over 600 people across the country fined for speeding across the 24 hour action.
It saw an increased Garda presence on the roads to crackdown on speed, as schools return from the summer break.
Divisional Roads Policing Inspector for Waterford, Kilkenny and Carlow, Paul Donohoe, has told KCLR News that detections for speeding included 20 in Kilkenny (eight on the M9, five each in the city and in Johnstown with two more in Ballyragget) with 16 in Carlow.
Added to that, one man was arrested in Thomastown after it transpired he was a disqualified driver with no insurance while one person was arrested in Carlow on suspicion of drink-driving after he was involved in a collision.
