Sinn Féin TD Kathleen Funchion has called on the Government to engage with families over the scandal
She was speaking on The KCLR Daily about the growing waiting lists for children needing spinal surgeries.
There’s hope an audit into how Children’s Health Ireland is approaching spinal surgeries will finally bring waiting lists down for vital treatment.
19 million euro was allocated for the service in 2019 and the Minister for Health has ordered a review into what the money has been used for.
They need to review where the money allocated was spent. ”There’s 313 children waiting on lists as of January and that has likely grown in the past few weeks. The plan that was put in place in 2017 did not happen. Stephen Donnelly revealed yesterday in the Dáil that he doesn’t know if the money that was allocated was spent where it should have been spent.”
