200 students taking part in rowing marathon in Carlow

200 students are taking part in an indoor rowing marathon today in a secondary school in Carlow.

35 transition year students from four Carlow schools and Borris community school have been training as instructors in the “get going, get rowing” programme and now they have trained first years who have done the course over the past 6 weeks.

The event is on in St Mary’s Academy CBS starting at 10am and the students will be doing individual races as well as relays.

Carlow Youth Services and the Graiguenamanagh and Carlow rowing clubs have been helping out with the initiative.
