More than half of businesses in Carlow and Kilkenny are getting a rates reduction – but over 40 percent are facing an increase.
Revaluation of all properties subject to rates in Carlow and Kilkenny has now been completed with new certificates and letters of explanation posted to ratepayers in recent weeks.
Hundreds of representations were made to the Valuation office when the preliminary certs were issued back in May.
13% of those from Carlow that made representations have had their rates changed while in Kilkenny that figure is 9%.
More than half of local ratepayers 54.9% in Carlow and 56.5% in Kilkenny will see a reduction in their rates going forward.
However 42% in Carlow and 41% in Kilkenny are looking at a hike in the rates they pay.
Fewer than 3% will see no change at all.
