Gardaí warning people to be on high alert as criminals target phone lines

Gardaí are urging people in rural areas to be on high alert for faults with your landline.

Kilkenny Gardaí say there’ve been a number of thefts of Eir phone-cables recently – the latest was last night in the Ballynascarry area of Woodsgift.

Garda Andy Neill says there are fears this is being done by criminals who are planning on carrying out burglaries on homes and businesses have security alarms connected through their phone lines.

He also appealed to anyone who has had suspicious disruption to their landline service to contact Kilkenny Gardaí (056)7775000.
