Christmas lights to be switched on in Carlow and Kilkenny later this evening

If you feel like getting into the festive spirit early, the Christmas lights are being switched on in Carlow town later.

It’s part of the ‘Christmas in Carlow’ initiative run by the Carlow County Chamber aimed at promoting the range of festivities, events and activities planned in the run up to December 25th.

The opening ceremony takes place at the Liberty Tree in Patatoe Market at 5pm, and will see a host of Carlow personalities taking part.

A candlelight walk of hope for Eist takes place before that at 4:30pm.

Meanwhile, Mayor Patrick O’Neill will switch on the Christmas lights in Kilkenny city at 5 o’clock this evening.
