Tullow targeted by telephone scammers

A telephone phishing scam is targeting numbers in the Tullow area today.

More than 18 calls were reported to local Gardai in a short period of time this morning.

People are being told that the call is from Revenue and that they are owed money by the taxman.

You are then asked to call a number where someone tries to get your bank details so the money can be paid back to you.

It seems to be the same scam or very similar to one that KCLR reported was targeting people in Kilkenny last week.
