A yellow wind warning is in place across Carlow and Kilkenny until 6pm

Met Éireann has issued two weather warnings as Storm Barbara approaches.

A yellow wind warning is in place for most of the country – including Carlow and Kilkenny – with gusts of 110 kilometres an hour expected until 6 o’clock this evening.

A status orange wind warning is in place for coastal areas and high ground in Donegal, Galway and Mayo.

Gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour are expected in those counties.
