Fianna Fáil TD Bobby Aylward says there’s really no question of his party causing the government to collapse over the issue of cardiac care for the South East.

Deputy Aylward was one of the speakers in the Dáil yesterday as part of a cross-party motion calling for 24-hour cardiac services to be available in this region.

In a heated exchange, Independent Minister John Halligan challenged the party to call a general election if they felt so strongly about delivering a second cath-lab for Waterford Hospital.

But Carlow-Kilkenny TD Bobby Aylward told KCLR News afterwards that his party won’t be causing the government to collapse over this issue, as serious as it is. He said “thats not the way democracy works” and not the way to get services that you’re looking for provided.
