A clearer picture of the financial and other implications of losing part of South Kilkenny will be given to councillors at a special meeting this afternoon.

The Kilkenny county council executive have been working since last week to put together facts and figures to present to members in light of the recommendations by the boundary commission to extend Waterford’s county boundary.

It’s expected that councillors will unanimously reject the recommendations when they meet this afternoon.

Cathaoirleach of the County council Matt Doran told KCLR news they are treating the matter very seriously.

It’s in the hands of Minister Simon Coveney now who will make a decision on whether the report is acted upon.

Meanwhile speaking on KCLR at the weekend, Carlow Kilkenny Dail Deputy John Paul Phelan said “if it’s the last thing I ever do in politics, this boundary will not move into Slieverue and Kilmacow”
