Fresh calls for CCTV at Carlow Town Park after woman was victim of handbag snatch

There are fresh calls for CCTV cameras to be installed at Carlow’s Town Park as soon as possible after a woman had her handbag stolen there last weekend.

At yesterday’s Municipal District meeting, members were told that an application by local Gardaí for an extension of the Town CCTV scheme had been received by the Commissioner.

However, Mayor Fintan Phelan says this still doesn’t set out a timeline for when these cameras will be installed.

He told KCLR that because there’s no surveillance, the culprits of this handbag snatch probably won’t be caught.
