“Shameful” is the term a local priest has used to describe the Catholic Church’s relationship with people in the L-G-B-T-Q community.

Fr Paddy Byrne from Carlow has always been outspoken in his progressive views about how the church should change to become more inclusive.

He has also long been campaigning for priests to be allowed to marry if they want to.

He was the subject of the final episode of KCLR’s ‘Be Not Afraid’ series this morning.

And, says one of the church’s greatest failings has been in relation to people who aren’t heterosexual.
