A public meeting is being held in Thomastown Community Centre tonight, to discuss the possible loss of rural bus services in Kilkenny.
Councillor Breda Gardner will chair the meeting at 8:30pm, aimed at discussing the steps to ensure the services, provided by Bus Eireann, aren’t lost.
It includes the X4 Expressway, currently serving Mullinavat, Ballyhale, Thomastown and Gowran.
Talks have been ongoing for some time now, over the possible cessation of these services in rural Kilkenny. Lack of use is being cited as one of the contributing factors.
Speaking to KCLR news, Councillor Gardner said a community effort is needed if the service has any chance of being retained.
