Man detained in Garda custody following a robbery in Carlow last night

A man is being held in Thomastown Garda Station following a robbery in Carlow last night.

The incident happened at a shop on the Tullow Road shortly before 8pm.

He threatened staff – before making off with a small amount of money – he was arrested a short time later.

A Garda technical examination is being carried out at the scene.
