Colaiste Mhuire Johnstown reveals plans to expand

There’s some big works on the way for a local secondary school as a new autism unit and other classrooms has been approved by the Department of Education.

Coláiste Mhuire in Johnstown is set to expand by about a third of its current size if the council grants their planning application.

The school, which is now 21 years old, has grown to over 500 pupils.

Speaking to KCLR News, Principal Michael Killeen says the work promised goes beyond their expectations.

The school is getting a new woodwork room and 2 extra classrooms as well as a sizeable new autism unit which will eventually cater for 10 students.
