Work set to start on ‘Carlow Central’ as Penneys moves home for now

It looks like work on a new multimillion euro shopping centre for Carlow is imminent as Penneys moves home .

The retailer who will be the anchor tenant in ‘Carlow Central’ has moved to let construction of the brand new centre, set to open its doors in 2018, get underway.

The €70 million euro development was announced by Lexeme Properties Limited in January – and is expected to bring over 800 jobs on stream when completed.

For now Penneys will make Carlow Shopping Centre its temporary home – they will be occupying the unit left vacant when SuperValu closed its doors last year.
