Gardaí warn locals to keep their cars locked after a ‘distraction theft’ in Carlow recently

Keep your cars locked and don’t be too friendly to strangers is the advice from Gardaí!

It’s after another ‘distraction theft’ took place recently where a woman had her handbag stolen from the carpark of Aldi in Hanover, Carlow.

The woman was putting her shopping into the car when she was distracted by two young women who then stole her handbag from the car.

Speaking to KCLR, Garda Caroline O’Malley says it’s very easy for these thefts to happen; and she says people should be extra cautious about leaving their cars unlocked, and talking to be strangers.
