They also show that the ratio of constituents to TD is above the constitutional requirement.
In the five years between Census 2011 and Census 2016 the population of both Kilkenny and Carlow grew by 3.9% and 4.1% respectively.

On the night of Sunday, the 24th of April last year, there were 54,612 people in Carlow – up by more than 2,000 on the previous census night.

Of this, 28,472 were male, while there were slightly less women at 28,403.

In Kilkenny, the population was 95,419 – an increase of over 3,600.

49,479 of these were men and 49,639 were women.

Meanwhile, a total of 25 constituencies around the country now are now above the constitutional limit of 30,000 constituents per TD.

Kilkenn-Carlow is no exception with 30,298 people per one TD.
