The travelling community should NOT be singled out by people looking to combat animal abuse.
So say local animal welfare activists who organised a march and candlelight vigil in Kilkenny City today.
It was organised after a number of cases of animal cruelty in the city in recent weeks – especially in relation to horses.
In a statement to KCLR following these incidents, the Kilkenny Traveller Community Movement said they “do not in any way condone acts of cruelty” and that local members are being targeted by “racism, bigotry and hate speech.”
Speaking to KCLR, Councillor Andrew McGuinness says an issue like this shouldn’t divide communities.
