Local parents of children with special needs are vowing to take to the streets of Kilkenny again next month.
They’re unhappy with the response from the HSE since their last protest on April 3rd when a group marched on the local community health offices in the city over the lack of vital services for adults and children with disabilities.
The Health service did respond at the time but only in relation to the counties in this area and organisers say their campaign is a national one that deserved a national response.
Local mother Linda Comerford told KCLR news that parents didn’t even get any assurances from the response that was issued.
Now they have plans to protest again and want people from every county in this HSE Area 5 to join them. Organisers are appealing to parents in Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and South Tipperary to attend a White Line Protest at the HSE offices in Lacken in Kilkenny city on May 26th at 10am
The group calling themselves ‘Our Voice -Their Future’ says every child and adult with a disability or serious illness deserves the opportunity to live their life to their fullest potential but the lack of vital services from the HSE is preventing this from happening.
They say they can no longer tolerate it.
