Could bollards protect against certain types of terror attacks in Kilkenny?

The security aspect of bollards along the parade and other parts of Kilkenny city needs to be looked at.

That’s the call from the Chairperson of the Joint Policing Committee in Kilkenny in light of recent terror attacks across Europe.

Fidelis Doherty says there is a case now for looking at the bollards from a public safety point of view and not just a means of preventing illegal parking.

And she dismissed claims that the call is just an over-reaction to what happened in Barcelona last week.
