Kilkenny and Carlow County Councils will sign off on their budgets for 2018 today.
The local authorities are holding meetings today to decide where they’re spending their money next year.
Kilkenny County Council have to bridge a gap of 750 thousand euro with the pay restoration to council staff a factor in the figure being so high.
In Carlow, they were facing an 810 thousand euro deficit however that will be significantly lower once the civil servants pay taken out of it.
Both local authorities voted to keep the property tax rate untouched for next year.
